Mercury isn't in retrograde—we're in the clear until March 22, as a matter of fact—but if you've felt a palpable shift in your energy, mood, or general tolerance for B.S. this week, you can blame another highly significant astrological event. Early this morning, for the first time in 152 years, we experienced a blue moon, a supermoon, and a lunar eclipse all in one go.

It was a triple whammy worth viewing, at the very least: The supermoon meant that the moon was especially close in its orbit around the earth, and the full eclipse colored the moon in red (which is why it's commonly called a "blood moon"). But if you subscribe to astrology, the phenomenon carries more than just curb appeal.

"When the sun, moon, and earth all align like this, and in close proximity to the earth (called a supermoon), this is like an electrical impulse jolting our nervous system," says L.A.-based astrologist Rose Theodora. That said, it also presents an opportunity to embrace that energy and aim it toward positive aspects in our lives. Theodora details how below.

What does it mean?

A full moon and solar eclipse each carry a significant amount of astrological weight, and we'll be experiencing that in tandem. Liken it to planetary PMS: The time is ripe for metamorphosis and change, and that means emotions (and confusion) are running high.

"Everyone should expect to feel emotionally charged and particularly sensitive around nonsense," says Theodora. "The full moon in Leo is straight and self-declaring. People are prideful around this lunar eclipse and are working to heal themselves and the ways in which we need to express ourselves and to feel nurtured."

How should I react?

"In short, be mindful that other people will be overreactive and more sensitive," says Theodora. And in addition to being conscious of others, you'd be wise to check in with yourself as well.

"Eclipses are incredible for removing emotional clutter from our lives, so surrender to the changes without expectation," says Rose Theodora. "Focus on the big picture and try to gain clarity on your sensual needs versus your material and practical needs. Use this as an opportunity to let go of the areas in your life which are no longer working."

Which signs will feel it the most?

We're all subject to experience the impact to some degree, but Theodora notes that those born under Leo (especially between July 30 and August 8) and Aquarius (between January 28 and February 6) will shoulder it the most. (That goes for people with personal planets in Aquarius and Leo as well.)

But if it already seems like a lot to bear, rest assured: "No matter how intense the changes feel, it is for the best in the long run," says Theodora. In other words, lean into it and know that it'll make you stronger in the end.
