As much as I would love to be able to sit down for a few minutes, close my eyes, and clear my head without squirming or feeling like I would rather be doing anything else, I am sadly not one of those people. Coming to terms with this truth alone was a long process for this otherwise yoga-loving, incense-burning wellness editor, but boy, did it set me free. I quickly realized that I found my own mental catharsis elsewhere: in hiking, listening to music, and writing, to name a few.

The point is that there are countless ways to try mindfulness depending on the circumstances or your own personal preferences. Consider the weekly onset of Sunday scaries, for example: What better time to practice calming your brain than the flurry of anxiety before the start of the work week? With that in mind, we compiled a not-at-all-exhaustive list of activities that can help you feel more grounded and focused. Some are backed by science, others are suggestions thrown in by my fellow editors and me. Bookmark it for the next time you're feeling stressed, frazzled, scattered, or all of the above.
