About That Time We Asked You to Do Rooftop Yoga With Us in L.A.
At the beginning of June, we threw down the gauntlet for a wellness challenge—but the point, of course, was that we left the details up to you. How do you want to improve yourself? What small steps do you want to take for your overall well-being? #MyNextThirty is a social movement that encourages you to set your sights on a wellness goal—big or small—and commit to it for 30 days. Whether you're aiming to drink more water or try an intimidating workout class (the latter, in my case), the idea is to self-improve and build positive habits, one small, totally doable step at a time.
But in that spirit, we've decided to up the ante and get to know our community a little better by presenting a series of in-studio fitness events in New York and Los Angeles. Last week brought us to Alo Yoga's gorgeous Los Angeles headquarters for a yoga class led by THE/THIRTY contributor Alexis Novak—because lying in Savasana on a Beverly Hills rooftop certainly isn't the worst way to close a hectic Thursday afternoon.
Keep reading to see how the class went down—and how to make it to our next event.
To say the setting was tranquil would be an understatement—though it's no coincidence Alo's rooftop makes for the ideal refuge. (L.A. residents, take note: The brand hosts classes in this space on a daily basis.)
Before diving into a dynamic flow, Novak invited attendees to write down their #MyNextThirty wellness intentions on cards provided on their mats—a small reminder to keep the positive vibes going as they left for the evening.
But that was just one of a handful of great souvenirs. Every attendee took home a gift bag full of goods from Hum Nutrition (including the brand's cult-fave Red Carpet supplement, $25), Alo, and Core Hydration Water, as well as Kayo's Body Beautiful Creme ($58).
If the FOMO is getting too real, don't fret: There are still more #MyNextThirty events on the agenda. Stay tuned for updates from Byrdie's Facebook page, and sign up for our email list if you haven't already.
L.A. readers! We're holding our next event at Orangetheory this week—make sure you reserve your spot.
